EMPLOYMENT

Bruce W. White, P.C. — Owner of small, private law firm from January, 2001 to present and sole practitioner from July, 1990 to December, 2000. Own, operate and manage law firm; hire and train personnel; personally handle all accounting functions and management of records and bank accounts; negotiate contracts for all services including telecommunications, office equipment and rental leases.
 
Represent debtors in Chapter 7 and 13 cases; interview and counsel clients; attend all court proceedings necessary to complete cases. Represent creditors and act as local counsel for creditors in Chapter 7 and 13 cases. Have appealed cases to the U.S. Federal District Court and have assisted in appeals to the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Department of Agriculture, Office of General Counsel — Attorney for several government agencies, including Farmers Home Administration (FmHA) from 1984 to 1988. Appointed Specials Assistant United States Attorney to represent FmHA in Bankruptcy Courts in the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia and to prosecute appeals to the District Court and Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. Reviewed Chapter 12 and Chapter 13 Bankruptcy Plans for compliance with FmHa standards; filed objections and motions for relief from stay, as appropriate. Conducted training sessions and lectures for the Department of Agriculture; hired and trained support personnel in office.
 
Law Clerk to the Honorable Blackwell N. Shelly — Law clerk to the Bankruptcy Judge from July, 1980 to August, 1981. Assisted the Judge in day-to-day operations of the Bankruptcy Court following the change over from the Bankruptcy Act to the Bankruptcy Code of 1978 (second law clerk appointed); reviewed and assisted with writing judicial opinions; opened all court sessions and attended all trials and hearings; provided research assistance and procedural help as needed.

Guest lecturer for the Tidewater Bar Association and the Richmond Bar Association; former member of the Richmond Local Liaison Committee on the Court's Local Bankruptcy Rules Standing Committee (2001-2002); and former member of the Richmond Bar Liaison Committee; beta tester for the Court's ECF System prior to mandatory implementation and one of the first certified attorneys to use the ECF System in Richmond; proficient in WordPerfect, Quickbooks, Adobe Acrobat, and other software applications; excellent working knowledge of computers and networking (installed network in office and maintain all computers and the network in the office).
